As free-flowing organic wood art, this piece pushes the bounds of normal artistic expression in woodturning. This unique piece provides an amazing three-dimensional 360° visual that immediately captures the eye’s attention no matter the viewpoint. Purposefully turned with thicker walls, negative space was first power carved away, then burned, and finally ebonized. The remaining green ash surface appears to almost jump forward from the pitch dark background. Mother nature provided some embellishments of her own with a few, scattered worm holes, which were artfully incorporated into the negative spaces. To complete the visual presentation, the inner void was also ebonized to provide continuity with the piece’s use of negative space.
