I love working with spalted wood.  The unique nature, colors and features make it as one-of-kind as the form it takes in art.  As a result, this special wood is often hard to find and is in high demand by many woodworkers.  This particular wood is made from pecan.  I was fortunate to acquire a number of large logs about a year ago from my parents' neighbor.  The logs came from an approximately 100 year old pecan tree that had been downed a couple of years ago on his grandparents' property. I love the beauty in the wood's variety of colors and dark lines.
